Brilliance at the Bankhead Gala with BJ Thomas and the Livermore-Amador Symphony
One of the most distinctive voices in American pop music, BJ Thomas first soared to fame in the 1960s with “I’m So Lonesome, I Could Cry” and “Hooked on a Feeling.” By the end of the decade his “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head,” from the 1969 blockbuster film “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” had soared to the top of the charts and won the Academy Award for Best Song. He followed with a string of pop hits including “I Just Can’t Help Believing” and “No Love at All,” before his chart-topping single “(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song” became a cross-over hit in 1975.
“One of music’s most versatile voices of all time” — Billboard
With five Grammy Awards and two Dove Awards, BJ Thomas is the only artist to have reached the top of the charts in three genres, pop, country and Christian. He was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame for “Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head” in 2013.
Accompanied by the Livermore-Amador Symphony, BJ Thomas will perform hits from across his career at Brilliance at the Bankhead. LVPAC’s largest fundraising event of the year, the gala includes a dinner reception with catering by Wente and live music on the plaza before the show, as well as live and silent auctions inside. Proceeds support both the Bankhead Theater and Bothwell Arts Center.
