StarsDay Open Mic Event
Wed, October 30 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Designed to encourage local musicians, vocalists and spoken word artists to share their talents with the community, Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center will host the final StarsDay open mic event for this year on October 30, 2019. Making this StarsDay special will be the inaugural “Dreamcatcher” talent contest. For a $20 fee, anyone can enter the contest and will perform before a small panel of judges and the audience. All entry fees collected will be taken home by the top two winners. The First Place Winner will also receive a handmade dreamcatcher necklace in addition to their cash prize.
The doors open at 6:00pm and any musician, artist or group who signs up will be assigned a time slot based on space available. Performances will begin at approximately 7:00pm and winners will be announced at the close of the event. Two microphones will be available for use, but musicians are responsible for bringing their own instruments and any other equipment needed. The Bankhead House Band “Force of Magic” will also perform.
StarsDay was launched this summer as a new open-mike-format music and art event designed to bring together and share the wealth of artistic talent in the community.
As Scott Kenison, executive director of Livemore Valley Performing Arts Center, said, “We always look for opportunities to open our doors so people can enjoy and share art in all its forms with others. We support the efforts of our resident performing arts companies and also feature local groups such as LunaFish, who will bring the sound of the 60s and 70s to the Bankhead in August, and Crawdad Republic, who will return for New Year’s Eve. Exhibits in our Gallery often highlight local artists. Now with StarsDay we can provide a platform for others in the community to showcase their musical and artistic talents.”
StarsDay is the brainchild of Barinque, who is Food and Beverage/Event Manager for Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center, as well as a multi-talented visual artist and performer with deep roots in the community. Two microphones will be available for use but musicians are responsible for bringing their own instruments and any other equipment needed.
Admission to the family-friendly StarsDay is free and beverages and snacks will be available for sale from concessions. Entry to the courtyard is through the gate to the right of the Bankhead Theater box office at 2400 First Street in downtown Livermore.
