StarsDay Open Mike Event
Wed, September 25 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
This summer, Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center will launch StarsDay a new open-mike-format music and art event designed to bring together and share the wealth of artistic talent in the community. StarsDay will take place in the outdoor courtyard of the Bankhead Theater on the last Wednesday of each month. Any local musician, artist or group can sign up for a slot to perform during the open showcase session which begins at 7:00pm. They can also join in a jam session towards the end of the evening. Admission to the family-friendly StarsDay is free and beverages and snacks will be available for sale from concessions. Entry to the courtyard is through the gate to the right of the Bankhead Theater box office at 2400 First Street in downtown Livermore.
As Scott Kenison, executive director of Livemore Valley Performing Arts Center, said, “We always look for opportunities to open our doors so people can enjoy and share art in all its forms with others. We support the efforts of our resident performing arts companies and also feature local groups such as LunaFish, who will bring the sound of the 60s and 70s to the Bankhead in August, and Crawdad Republic, who will return for New Year’s Eve. Exhibits in our Gallery often highlight local artists. Now with StarsDay we can provide a platform for others in the community to showcase their musical and artistic talents.”
StarsDay is the brainchild of Barinque, who is Food and Beverage/Event Manager for Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center, as well as a multi-talented visual artist and performer with deep roots in the community. Two microphones will be available for use but musicians are responsible for bringing their own instruments and any other equipment needed.
