Introducing Cirque Mechanics: 42FT!

By January 10, 2020 January 14th, 2020 LVPAC News

Have you ever wanted to experience a traditional circus combined with a modern performing arts show? Dive into 42FT to find out.

Cirque Mechanics: 42FT– A Menagerie of Mechanical Marvels will premiere at the Bankhead Theater on Sunday, February 9 at 7:00 p.m. featuring thrills, fun, and plenty of excitement.

The title, 42FT, comes from the diameter of a standard circus ring. As an ode to the more traditional form of circus, 42FT will feature more action and amazement than ever before, using the latest invention from the creative minds behind Cirque Mechanics. With a modern twist on traditional theater, attendees will enjoy a new form of live theater. Packed with history and storytelling, 42FT provides a new perspective on modern theater.

42FT is one of numerous performances in February at Bankhead Theater. With never-before-seen twists and only one chance to join in, this is a show you won’t want to miss.

What to Expect

Attendees can expect to be wowed by a Cirque du Soleil-like show, without the cost. On average, a similar Cirque du Soleil show costs around $170–$180, while our most expensive tickets are only $95. This show will feature acts from a galloping metal horse, to acrobats and aerialists. 42FT has been described as having a “raw quality,” which ties art into the action of traditional circus and other entertainment shows. In such an intimate venue, both artists and attendees are able to experience a rich environment. The show has been compared to an original “Big Top,” which describes the large tent where a traveling circus performs.  If you’re looking for a dose of adrenaline paired with an evolving art form, 42FT is the show for you.

How It’s Different From Other Shows

While most shows, including Cirque du Soleil feature themes involving musicians or characters, 42FT incorporates more of the history about traditional circus shows, while also creating the same excitement and appeal of other types of live performances. With a mechanical metal horse and rotating tent frame, viewers will feel like they are right back in a real circus. What sets 42FT apart from others is that it focuses on the historical and circus aspects as a whole, giving the audience a wider range of entertainment, rather than honing in on a specific person or point of focus.
